Homemade Horchata Recipe

Horchata is a delicious and dreamy cinnamon rice drink!

It is made from almonds, cinnamon, vanilla and long grain rice. It is both sweet and refreshing!

 

To make this delicious drink, you will need the following ingredients:

1 cup raw almonds, blanched

1 cup long grain rice

4 cups water

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 cups milk

2/3 cup sugar

 

blanch almonds by placing 1 cup almonds into a bowl.

cover with boiling water for 1 minute.

Almond skins should just “pop” off.

Place blanched almonds in blender

and add 1 cup long grain rice.

blend for 30 seconds.

add 4 cups water,

1/2 tsp vanilla,

and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

Blend, blend, blend!

pour half the mixture into a pitcher.

Now add 2 cups milk

and 2/3 cup sugar. Blend until smooth.

Pour remaining mixture into pitcher and refrigerate overnight.

Strain through mesh or use cheesecloth to separate the chunky form the liquid.
